Tony, from Rocky Mountain Weather Network, contacted my today. We included his VWS template to our server which now generates a VWS_stickertags.htm file which APBackUP uploads to our webserver. Tony’s servers read that file and update the RMWN’s Mesomap. For more information check out the community at RMWN.
1 year ago we started Castle Rock Weather with a cool Birthday present (Oh yeah tomorrow is my Birthday) of a Davis weather station and software. Our site has changed alos since those early days. In our first year we have gone from a few pages to over 30 pages of regualarly updated weather information.
What are our plans for our second year? Well here are a few projects we’re currently working on.
- - Castle Rock Weather Mobile site
- - Convert Site News from html list to a Wordpress Blog.
- - Virtual Weather Flash instead of using Weather Underground’s.
- - Install a high resolution webcam showing the southern sky.
We’re added NOAA Radar images to our site. Our station (DW0493) can be seen on the map.
Current Conditions page has been replaced by Live Conditions. Live Conditions will include Flash weather sticker from Weather Underground. The conditions will be automatically updated ever 2 seconds. This has become a great page to leave open while at work.
We have joined CWOP and Weather Underground personal weather station communities. Castle Rock Weather’s server uploads our data directly to these 2 organizations. Our data is then validated, shared, and combined with other stations. Our data is helping the weather forcasting community provide more accurate reports and forecasts. We have found this site to be very helpfull in determining the conditions in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Array function added to parse data.csv file. Current data from file added to Info pages. Images moved down the page.
Now that we’re using PHP we can leverage exisint NWS PHP code. A big thankyou to Saratoga Weather and Carter Lake for providing information on these scripts.
NOAA reports now include past month and yearly reports. NWS forecast has been added and tweaked. Hazardous Weather alerts have been added to Welcome and Hazardous Weather pages.
The site was converted from ASPx/ C# to PHP this afternoon. The decission took some time but ultimately it will expand on the content delivered by this site. The main reason to migrate to PHP was for better integration of exising weather site tools. In addition I have future plans to include a wordpress blog on this site, which runs in PHP. So welcome to the new Castlerockweather.Org.
